Find a venue with a single search.
Demand for wedding celebrations peaks in July–August, and the graduation celebrations of spring 2027 fall on Saturday 5.6.2027. Prices of public and parish venues are often clearly lower than private ones. For a business, staff Christmas parties are a different matter for tax purposes than a hospitality event for customers, so it is worth deciding the nature of the event before booking a venue.
Venue Radar brings Finland's venues together in a single search. You see the size, price and available dates, and can send a quote request to several venues at once.

Frequently asked questions: Venue Radar
When is the graduation celebration in 2027?
The spring 2027 student graduation celebrations are on Saturday 5.6.2027, when the school year ends. The date has been confirmed from the Helsinki upper secondary schools' calendars, so check your own school's date.
How much does venue hire cost?
Prices vary a lot: for example, the King's Hall at Turku Castle costs 130 €/h in the daytime and 250 €/h in the evening (price list 2025), and the Sampola festive hall in Tampere 180 € VAT 0 (2025). Prices of public and parish venues are often lower than private ones.
Can a parish space be rented for a wedding reception?
Yes. For example, in the Haaga parish a wedding reception of under 6 hours is free for church members and €100 for others (2026). Ask your own parish for prices and terms.
What is the most popular wedding month in Finland?
In 2025 the most couples married in August (3,506), followed by July (3,041) (Statistics Finland). A total of 22,082 marriages were contracted during the year, so it is worth booking summer Saturdays well in advance.
Where can I find a venue?
The Venuu service has over 7 100 spaces from all over Finland (10/2026). It is also worth checking cities' booking services, such as Helsinki's Varaamo, and the premises of parishes and museums.
Can a venue booking be cancelled within 14 days?
Usually not. The right of withdrawal under Chapter 6 of the Consumer Protection Act does not apply to leisure services agreed for a specific date or period. Cancellation fees are determined by the terms of the booking agreement, so read them before confirming.
What does a venue price usually include?
It varies from venue to venue. Always ask whether cleaning, dishes, linens, technology, caretaker and VAT are included in the price. For example, the price of the Sampola ballroom in Tampere (180 € VAT 0, 2025) is supplemented by an hourly caretaker charge of 35–70 €/h.
How many confirmation parties are held per year?
In 2024, 48,682 young people attended confirmation camp, which is 73% of the 15-year-old age group (Church Council). Confirmations are concentrated in summer, on the same weekends as weddings and graduation parties.
Are a company's Christmas parties tax-exempt for the employee?
They are, when the event is customary, reasonable in cost and available to all staff (Tax Administration guidance VH/7540/00.01.00/2024). The guidance sets no fixed euro amount. A spouse's participation can be accepted if it is customary.
Can a company deduct the VAT on a Christmas party?
The VAT on purchases for customary staff recreation events is deductible for a VAT-liable company, and the costs are fully deducted in income taxation. If the event is entertainment intended for customers, VAT may not be deducted (VAT Act section 114) and only 50 % is deducted in income taxation.
Which VAT rate applies to party catering in 2026?
Value added tax on restaurant and catering services is 13.5 % as of 1.1.2026. The general rate of 25.5 % applies to serving alcoholic beverages and, for example, programme services.
Does the venue lessor have to charge value added tax?
Renting out space alone is in principle a VAT-exempt transfer of the right to use real property (VAT Act section 27). If the rent includes significant other services, such as catering, technical equipment or staff, the whole may be a taxable service. The VAT obligation arises when taxable sales exceed 20 000 € in a calendar year. Under certain conditions the space can also be let with VAT to a VAT-liable tenant by registering as a taxable person.
How to use the information
- Book a venue for graduation parties (Sat 5.6.2027) and summer Saturday weddings well in advance – July and August are the most popular wedding months of the year.
- Ask about parish premises: for example, in the Haaga parish a wedding reception of under 6 hours is free of charge for church members.
- Compare day and evening prices: at Turku Castle the evening rental is almost double the daytime rental.
- Winter and weekday weddings are often easier to arrange and cheaper than summer Saturdays.
- Check whether you may bring your own food and drinks into the venue – it affects the total cost more than the venue rental.
- Ask for a quote that shows venue hire, catering, cleaning and tableware separately. Only then can you compare venues with each other.
- Check the cancellation terms before booking: a consumer has no 14-day right of withdrawal for leisure services agreed for a specific date (Consumer Protection Act, chapter 6).
- Keep staff Christmas parties and client events separate: the costs and VAT of Christmas parties are deductible, the VAT on entertainment is not, and in income taxation only 50 % of it is deducted.
- Invite the whole staff to the Christmas party. The tax exemption requires that the event is available to everyone and is not a reward.
- If you rent out your own event venue, find out its VAT status: renting out the space alone is in principle exempt from VAT, but catering and other significant ancillary services can make the whole taxable. The VAT registration threshold is €20,000 per year.
